Works were to re cover the existing timber stair case and over bridge with new anti slip material complete with Corduroy tactile. A new access ramp to the school entrance had just been waiting for DDA compliant handrail to be fitted for completion. It was fitted on posts to a dwarf wall the posts dropping into core drilled holes, to the building side the handrail was supported using wall palms. Green “warm to touch” paint had been applied to the rail ensuring DDA compliance.

J & A Stevenson were commissioned to produce an innovative non-slip solution for Platform 7 at Reading Railway Station. The Surface Mounted Tactile Paving System was installed along the length of the Platform to provide a simple solution requiring no excavation to install. The work was completed ahead of schedule, and our Tactile Paving System will reduce fabrication and possible future maintenance requirements. Handrail and steps at Birkenhead’s North Train Maintenance Depot Get the non slip treatment. A set of exterior steps proved a slip hazard in the wet although made of chequer plate the steps proved to be slippy in the wet and so GRP stair treads complete with resin impregnated grit and hi vis nosing’s were fitted using countersunk fixings drilled and tapped into the existing steel stair treads.
The National Mobility Road Show chose the Telford International Centre for their show this year and J & A Stevenson were commissioned by both the event organisers and the International Centre itself to provide two number disabled access ramps, one to the front and one to the rear to help improve disabled access at the venue for the expected 18,000 visitors, many of whom attended on mobility scooters. The event was a complete success and will now proceed at Telford for the further two years at least.

Clapham railway station is the first railway station in the UK to incorporate guidance type tactile within the station. The guidance tactile had a brickett type anti slip polyurethane surface incorporated within the system. The polyurethane anti slip system has a life expectancy of seven times more than concrete and the slip resistant values are very high.
This is a job at Langley Railway Station where we formed a new platform extension in conjunction with TATA steel. We supplied our Suredeck 21mm thick marine plywood anti slip panels with the blister type platform tactile incorporated into the sheet all complete with a bullnose front edge white and yellow sight lines. All work was completed to specification and on time, with minimal disruption to passengers.

We have completed new DDA compliance works at Littleborough Railway Station, including 400 linear metres of Warm-to-Touch Handrails. J & A Stevenson Ltd were tasked with designing and manufacture and installation of 400 linear mtrs of Balustrade with warm to touch handrail for Bam Nuttal. The job was completed on time and to a high standard.
